Wardrobe tip: Solid colors work best. Patterns, including stripes and flowers, are not recommended. Choose a color that complements your complexion and hair. Bright colors such as red, yellow and white tend to distract from the face. If you have light hair, a light color works best, and dark hair is best with a darker color. My favorite background to use is charcoal, shown below. This color reproduces well in a color or black and white photo, and complements the widest range of colors.
